In the first quarter of 2020, PWC (PricewaterhouseCoopers), a top accounting firm in the world, published the ECONOMIC IMPACT ASSESSMENT OF PORT CITY COLOMBO. It assessed the positive impact of Port City Colombo for promoting the economic development of Sri Lanka, and comprehensively analyzed its various business forms, including residential, office, commercial and strategic projects.
As the report indicates, in the three phases of primary land development, secondary land development and urban operation, Port City Colombo will keep providing more than 400,000 high-quality jobs in Sri Lanka, attract more than USD 9.7 billion of foreign direct investment, create a positive impact on Sri Lanka's international balance of payments, and add more than USD 5 billion to her state revenue.
This report was submitted to President Gotabaya Rajapaksa on February 14 and he greatly appreciated it. As the Sri Lankan government progressively lifted the curfew, resumed economic production and promoted economic recovery, the report recently drew media attention and was reported once more, leaving a good public impression and creating a conducive environment for the Port City Colombo to win preferential policies.
