President of C?te d’Ivoire Attends the Inauguration Ceremony of the Abidjan Port Stockyard and General Engineering Project

On October 5, the inauguration ceremony of Abidjan Port Stockyard and General Engineering Project in Cote d'Ivoire was held. The government officials of Cote d'Ivoire, including President Alassane Ouattara, Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Hamad Bakayoko, Minister of Transport Amadou KONE, Minister of Commerce and Industry, Minister of Rice Promotion, the Chinese ambassador to Cote d'Ivoire his excellency Wan Li, the commercial counselor his excellency Lu Jun, Director of Abidjan Autonomous Port Authority Yan Sie, Philippe Labonne - representative of the owner (Vice CEO of Bolloré Transport and Logistics Group and President of Bolloré Port), Chief Security Officer of CHEC West African Region Zhang Chunchui, Project Director Pan Zhigang , representatives of the participation units important politicians of Cote d'Ivoire, ambassadors of various countries, local and international media and over 2000 community members attended the ceremony.

In his speech, Yan Sie reviewed the construction process of the Abidjan Port Expansion Project constructed by CHEC, expressed full confidence in the company’s continued construction of this stockyard project, and thanked all circles including the Chinese government for their strong support to the infrastructure construction of Cote d'Ivoire.

Philippe Labonne gave an overview of the project, saying that the construction of the project would provide a large number of jobs and train a group of technical management personnels . Upon completion, the Abidjan Autonomous Port will be one of the ports with the largest container throughput in Africa, thus greatly reducing waiting time for ships and helping to attract more commercial investment.

Amadou KONE delivered a speech on behalf of the Government of Cote d'Ivoire. He emphasized that the construction and operation of the project will bring many jobs and leverage in the economic development of Abidjan. In addition, he also introduced CHEC in particular, and spoke highly of the company’s contractual capacity and brand reputation in the construction projects in Cote d'Ivoire.

Accompanied by all parties, President Ouattara visited the exhibition area of the Port of Abidjan and got a detailed understanding of the development process and planning blueprint of thePort of Abidjan. In an interview by the media, President Ouattara thanked the parties involved in the project for their contributions and wished the project a complete success.



At the closing ceremony, President Ouattara, Minister Kone and his Excellency Wan Li laid the foundation stone for the project together.

The contract period of the Abidjan Port Stockyard and General Engineering Project is 22 months, and it mainly comprises of the construction of about 37.5 ha container yard and related supporting facilities in the land area behind the newly expanded Abidjan Port. After its completion, the project will greatly ensure the container throughput of Abidjan Port, contribute to the economic and social development of Cote d'Ivoire, and further consolidate CHEC’s influence in Cote d'Ivoire.
